Session 4 - Solving Quadratic Equations

Factorization, completing the square, and the quadratic formula are three methods for solving quadratic equations. Quadratic formula can be derived from the method of completing the square.

The solutions to a quadratic equation correspond to the x-coordinates of the points where the graph of the corresponding quadratic function intersects the x-axis.

Considering that a quadratic function may or may not intersect the x-axis, we can have 0, 1, or 2 solutions to a quadratic equation. The discriminant of a quadratic equation helps us determine the number of solutions without actually solving the equation.
