చిరుగజ్జెలవలె విరిసే ఎరనెర్రని తామరల
తెరగున వికసించే ఆ కెంజాయ కందోయి

కింకిణీ వాయ్ చెయ్ దా తామరై పూపోలే
సెంగణ్ సిరు చిరిదే, ఎమ్మేల్ విళియావో…

கிண்கிணி வாய்ச் செய்த தாமரைப் பூப்போலே
செங்கண் சிறுச் சிறிதே எம்மேல் விழியாவோ

Will you not look at us, little by little, through loving, half opened eyes,
eyes tinged a little red, like the lotus flowers,
